Clifty a ‘new' school: ‘I get bouncy when I'm super excited'

Paige Dudley walked with a bounce in her step toward her new classroom to meet her new teacher at Clifty Creek Elementary School.

“Hi, Paige! How are you?” her third-grade teacher, Deb Holl, asked as she greeted the 8-year-old and her parents Thursday during the school’s open house

Paige, wearing a blue-and-white Clifty Creek Cougars T-shirt, blue jeans, zebra-patterned flip-flops and a white headband in her brown hair, scanned the room she’ll begin using today, the first day of school in Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.

“What do you think of the Smart Board?” her mother, Emily Dudley, asked.

“Nice,” Paige replied.

Although Paige has attended Clifty Creek since kindergarten, there is an air of unfamiliarity and newness to the school. It was revamped over the summer as one that embraces project-based learning and utilizes technology in teaching. Laptop computers, iPads, Smart Boards and document cameras will be used daily in classes.

Paige said she’s excited about her “new” school.
