Judy Goddard spent 30 years as a nurse and saw the daily struggles of her co-workers trying to lift or move patients, sometimes injuring themselves or their patients.
One week, following two, 14-hour-shifts, the Bartholomew County resident went home and designed a device to create a smoother, safer lifting process.
“I decided we needed another way to lift patients,” said Goddard, who at 64 has become an inventor and entrepreneur.
Her trademarked Goddard Booster Seat is used at Columbus Regional Hospital, Schneck Medical Center, Hospice of South Central Indiana, nursing homes and private homes.
It’s sold at Williams Brothers Health Care in Columbus, Bevers Family Pharmacy in Seymour and at a Walgreens in Greenwood.
