Woman hurt in rural crash

HOPE, Ind. — A Columbus woman was undergoing treatment late Saturday afternoon at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after she was ejected from her vehicle in a crash near Hope.

Lisa Simmons, 32, of Gilmore Street in Columbus, was driving alone and traveling eastbound on County Road 800N between County Road 900E and County Road 1000E at about 1:30 p.m., according to Hope Town Marshal Randy Bailey.

Police believe Simmons’ vehicle ran off the right side of the road, where there is a deep ditch. Her car went airborne, then landed with the front end pointed downward, rolled and stopped on its side in the road. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.
