Richard Lee Cox, 49, of Commiskey, Indiana, formerly of Columbus, died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Norton Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
Richard entered this life on June 23, 1963, in Columbus, Indiana. He was the loving son of Clarence Edward Cox and Sharon Lee Morgan Koontz. He was raised in Columbus and was a graduate of Columbus East High School.
Richard had been employed as a line leader with NTN Driveshaft at Walesboro. He also had formerly been a carpet installer for several years in Columbus. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and computers. He was a devoted son, brother, dad, and grandpa.
He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sharon Lee Morgan Koontz and her husband, David Koontz, of Commiskey, Indiana; his father and stepmother, Clarence Edward Cox and his wife, Sheila, of Columbus, Indiana; three daughters, Tasha Yates of North Vernon, Indiana, Trisha Cox of Columbus, Indiana, and Rikki Cox of Seymour, Indiana; six grandchildren; his brother, Randy Wilson of Madison, Indiana; two sisters, Dawn Cox of Madison, Indiana, and Candie Maddox of Madison, Indiana; his uncles, Gerald Morgan of Carrollton, Kentucky, Marlin, Bill and Ralph Cox, all of Columbus, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Doris Morgan and Ralph and Flossie Cox.
A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana, with the Rev. Robert Leach officiating. Calling will be from 5 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral Home.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
