Kendall L. Kritzer died Sunday, June 17, 2012, surrounded by his family at Bloomington Hospital. He was 55.

Kendall was born July 17, 1956, in Franklin, to Max and Jean Kritzer of Nashville. He graduated from Brown County High School in 1974, where he was active in band and managed the basketball teams. He continued on to Purdue University in Lafayette, where he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

On December 31, 1981, he married Stephanie Porter of Brown County and they remained married for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed running, which he began doing about 10 years ago, and completed several 5K runs, participated in the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon in Indianapolis, other mini-marathons in Illinois, and the Indianapolis Marathon in 2007.

Kendall was the owner of Kritzers Feed Store in Gnaw Bone, which he opened on May 16, 2011. Prior to that, he was vice president/plant manager for Indiana Hydraulic Equipment Corp. in Franklin, held numerous managerial positions at Toyota Industrial Equipment Mfg., Inc., in Columbus, and was corporate manager of manufacturing and engineering for Nice-Pak Products, Inc., in Mooresville.

He served on Brown County Council from 1988 until 1996 and held the positions of vice president from 1993-1994 and president from 1995-1996. Kendall was the Asset Development Chair for the Brown County Community Foundation from 1998-1999 and was treasurer of the Woodside Business Center Board of Directors from 1999-2008.

Survivors include his parents, Max and Jean Kritzer of Nashville; his wife, Stephanie (Porter) Kritzer of Nashville; a son, Kristopher M.T. Kritzer (Nicole Stimac) of Brownsburg; a daughter, Kaitlyn M.L. Kritzer of Nashville; one sister, Kathryn Beth Evans (Talmadge) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four nieces, Kelly Boyer (Ryan) of Eden Prairie, Minn., Kathryn Van Pelt (Todd) of Fairfield, Iowa, Kara Evans of Iowa City, Iowa, and Mandy Porter of Spencer, Ind.; two nephews, David James Porter and Steven Porter, both of Seymour, Ind.; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville with the Reverend John C. Parsley presiding. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be sent to the Kritzer Education Fund at People's State Bank in Nashville for his children's continuing education, or to the Brown County Humane Society.

Kritzers Feed Store will close at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, and re-open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 23.
